TPU vs PVC

The quick version: TPU stays clear; PVC yellows.

TPU vs PVC at a glance

  • Clarity over time: TPU stays clear — PVC yellows and clouds.
  • Feel: TPU is soft and substantial — PVC is thin and tacky.
  • Cold weather: TPU stays flexible — PVC turns brittle.
  • Longevity: TPU lasts years — PVC, months.
  • Plasticisers: TPU has none to migrate — PVC leaches and goes sticky.

Why we chose the harder route

TPU costs more to produce than PVC. We use it anyway because it's the difference between a bag that still looks good next season and one that's yellowed by then. It's the core reason our bags look and feel closer to the real thing.
